2006 General Elections

Here is a list of candidates for the upcoming 2006 General Election in Utah. Not all of the candidates listed here pertain to you. To narrow down the information you will need your voting district.

Your voting district can be found on your voter registration card. If you do not have one of these you can register and receive one or you can use an interactive map on the county website that will show you your voting district. Update: orem.org has a much better map for finding your voting district.

When you have your voting district you can check here to find out the other districts you are living in (Congressional, School District, etc).

Neighborhood Meeting

Some time ago I attended a local neighborhood meeting. The mayor and several other city officials were in attendance. This was a great opportunity to learn and discuss issues in our neighborhood. We talked with Wade Raab who is in charge of the Neighborhood Preservation Unit. We had the opportunity to ask the mayor questions. The meeting also presented the chance to meet neighbors that I had not met before.

Here is a sample of some of the topics discussed:
  • beautification of a local street
  • tennis courts located at two of the schools in our area
  • a neighborhood service project planned for July
  • a crosswalk on a busy road
  • traffic lights
  • round-abouts
  • re-paving roads

Thanks to Wayne and Chris Tobler, the Neighborhood co-chairs, Joyce Johnson, Mayor Washburn and others who made this meeting possible and so successful. I hope to have more of these in the future.
